exciting news to share. CCANZ was named Aon Hewitt Best Employer
for 2016 and has also announced an exciting first foray into the dairy
category in New Zealand, with the new flavoured milk brand, Barista
Bros. Hospitality Business talked to Chris Litchfield, to find out more.
CONGRATULATIONS ON RECEIVING THE AON HEWITT
BEST EMPLOYER ACCREDITATION FOR 2016! PLEASE
TELL US BRIEFLY ABOUT THIS LATEST ACCOLADE.
The Aon Hewitt Best Employers Accreditation for 2016 is an incredible
recognition to receive. Last year, our engagement score showed
that 79% of us are actively engaged with our work here at CCANZ.
With more than 90,000 employees surveyed across the country, the
survey uncovers employee engagement scores of organisations both
large and small. Following this, several interviews with management
were undertaken and reviewed and as a result of this stringent audit
process, only the very best are given the AON Hewitt Best Employers
accreditation. Only 14 companies from throughout New Zealand and
Australia received the 2016 accreditation.
WHAT DOES YOUR ROLE AT CCANZ ENTAIL?
I’m very fortunate to lead a team of talented and engaged people both in
New Zealand and Fiji. The Aon Hewitt Best Employer Accreditation was
achieved through the effort our people put into making CCANZ one of
the best places to work.
We have one of the largest product portfolios in the Coca-Cola world, and
that is out of choice; we’ve made a conscious decision to be more than just
one category. The diversity of our business touches many consumers and
customers, which means my role is often fast paced and very engaging.
WHY IS CCANZ INTRODUCING A DAIRY
BEVERAGE IN NEW ZEALAND?
Our business is focused on delivering innovation across our portfolio of
beverages and meeting consumer’s growing and changing tastes. The
introduction of Barista Bros into New Zealand ensures we continue to
provide Kiwis with a diverse range of beverage options. Barista Bros is a
product with quality ingredients, that’s café inspired but still great value,
which fits in well with our strong coffee culture here in New Zealand.
PLEASE TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR INNOVATION
PIPELINE AND VISION FOR THE BUSINESS.
Our innovation pipeline revolves around our company vision to provide
more choice for Kiwis anywhere, anytime. It’s an exciting time for us
because we can engage consumers from breakfast through to dusk –
whether that’s a coffee or juice for breakfast, Coke for lunch and beer,
cider or Jim Beam in the evening. We’ll continue to invest in new products
and brands that support our values such as Barista Bros and Monster. We
have a few other things in the pipeline which we’ll be sharing very soon so
watch this space for some more innovative products from CCA.
WHAT CAN CONSUMERS LOOK FORWARD
TO IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS?
There’s a small global sporting event coming up called the Olympic
Games! We’re very proud to be part of the Coca-Cola Company who
are one of the key sponsors of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Coke and
Powerade have some fantastic activity around the Rio 2016 Olympic
Games and we’ll be sending a very lucky winner to Rio and giving away
30 trips to Fiji through MyCoke.
Consumers can also look forward to hearing a bit more from our
Powerade Brand Ambassadors - Mahé Drysdale is representing NZ
again at Rio, Steven Adams has had a fantastic season in the NBA and
we’re looking forward to Kane Williamson having another fantastic year
in cricket so watch this space.
WHAT ARE THE KEY TRENDS IN THE
BEVERAGE CATEGORY FOR 2016?
It’s a fast paced environment and consumer needs are always changing.
Like most industries the move towards an aging population, focus on
health and wellbeing and the consumers’ need for convenience are
some of the key trends we’re seeing. We keep a close eye on these
developments as they influence our decisions on how to go to market.
We’re very fortunate to have such a diverse range of products across
nearly every beverage occasion available, which means we can better
provide choice to these changing trends. We’ll continue to evolve our
offer to reflect what consumers want.
DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER NEWS TO SHARE?
Our new juice plant will be officially opening in September where we
will be producing great quality juice products under our Keri and Most
brands. Our customers and consumers will soon see new packaging,
taste improvements and new products. The Keri Juice plant is
scheduled to be fully operational in Q4.
