Home' Hospitality Business : HB SPT 2016 Contents Peruvian-born Ana Maria Moore embodies everything hotel
management would want to offer in terms of a luxury boutique spa
experience for its guests.
An internationally renowned spa and wellness consultant with more
than 25 years' international experience and nine global awards to her
name, Ana Maria truly cares for her clients’ needs and wants. As a
masseuse she’s second to none, and as a smart operator realises her
success depends on training her staff to follow her lead.
Employee training is routine, as well leading through superior quality
management. She loves teaching others through behavioural training;
through role plays in her specialty subjects – offering outstanding
customer service and effective communication.
Another of Ana Maria’s specialities is making everyone feel unique,
“Clients want to feel well-treated and appreciated, and we excel at
communicating, hearing their needs and wants and making it happen.
They come to feel nurtured and it is a gift to be able to convey this
message of personal caring, putting them at ease, and giving them the
revitalised sensation and sense of calm they come for.”
Ana Maria has vast experience working with hotels too, and
understands the expectations involved. Located within Amora since
February 2014, with its recent award Bodyhaven was again recognised for
setting benchmarks in quality, innovation and service for spas around the
globe. 38 countries participated with 22 competing spa categories involved.
Director of Sales at Amora Hotel, Matthew Cornelissen was involved
in the selection process when Ana Maria was chosen to partner with the
property. Her established client base and solid understanding of the Spa
industry and global endorsement couldn’t fail to impress.
“We wanted to find the right Spa and operator, one offering a
product which complemented the hotel, service and clientele. It was
important for us too, that both parties understood each other’s goals
and business mix to ensure we were establishing a mutually beneficial
partnership. We realised Bodyhaven was an excellent fit for us – The
Spa complements the Amora brand and provides an exceptional
experience for our guests in an idyllic setting.”
Asked where Ana Maria finds her inspiration, she says she likes to do
her own thing, “I don’t follow social media – I have no time to research
someone else’s business. I’m very creative and love designing services
and treatments, and describing them with beautiful language which must
achieve an outcome when our spa visitors select the specific service.”
Her impressive qualifications include a Diploma in Advanced
Therapeutic Massage in San Francisco and Aesthetician training at
the Ecole de Beauté in Lyon. But Ana Maria points out hers is still a
relationship-based profession, and believes emphasis should be placed
on skilled communication and customer-centered awareness instead of
product study and technical training.
Now there’s a huge investment in tourism, Ana Maria says it’s
important to inspire amazing customer service nationwide, “If people are
going to come all the way here, we must meet their service expectations,
complemented with our fascinating scenery and freshness of products
New Zealand has to offer. Exceptionality needs to be earned on a daily
basis and we’re delighted to consistently put Wellington on the map.”
Choosing the right spa partner
It’s the ideal fit. From within Wellington’s 4.5 star Amora Hotel, Ana Maria Moore runs Bodyhaven
Spa – recently voted the best luxury boutique spa in New Zealand at the 2016 World Luxury
Spa Awards. This is one business partnership that is more than skin deep.
